The brilliant team GB Olympic athlete Liz Yelling is the guest starter of this years race. Liz competed in Athens 2004 Beijing 2008 and won bronze in the 2006 Commonwealth games marathon. The VICTORIA PUB on the promenade is the venue of this years post race party with offers for all Mad Dogs wearing their shirts. LIZ YELLING will be there for the first hour! April 2017 Mad Dog wins Best 10K in the UK Once again the Mad Dog wins “Best 10K in the UK” award at the National Running Awards! Woof! Woof! Talitha and Adrian picked up the award from the BBC’s Mike Bushell at the grand awards night in London. THANKS TO ALL WHO VOTED - YOU ARE TOP DOGS! OCT 2017 MICK HALL is announced as the race photographer for MD 8. Not just National! MAD DOG was named the “best regional” event in the North West of England by the National Running Awards. 4th Jan 2018 Jan 2018 RAMADA Hotel Southport annouces special rates and facilities for Mad Dogs. Jan 2018 Victoria Pub to host post race meeting on Mad Dog Day. Jan 2018…Stop the doggy press! Jo Pavey MBE is announced as the official starter for Mad Dog 8 2018 Mad Dog 10K course record broken! The course record was broken by AMANDA CROOK of Southport Waterloo AC (also the previous course record holder). She set a new time of 35:06 beating her previous course record by 29 seconds. The Mad Dog returns in 2020 with MD 10 ‘Jurassic Bark’. Same place, same time on Sunday 9th February 2020.
